Apply direct pressure with cleanest available material
Maintain pressure for 10-15 minutes without checking
If blood soaks through, add more material — don't remove
Elevate the wound above heart level if possible
For severe bleeding, apply tourniquet 2-3 inches above wound
Note the time tourniquet was applied
Do NOT remove tourniquet once applied
Tourniquet Guidelines:
- • Use only for life-threatening limb bleeding
- • Apply 2-3 inches above wound, never over a joint
- • Tighten until bleeding stops
- • Write time of application on victim's forehead
CPR Basics
Check for responsiveness — tap shoulders and shout
Call for help if available
Place heel of hand on center of chest
Lock hands, keep arms straight
Compress 2 inches deep, 100-120 per minute
After 30 compressions, give 2 rescue breaths
Continue until help arrives or person recovers
