Survival Guide

Mindset & Psychology

Your mental state is your most critical survival tool. A positive mental attitude (PMA) can mean the difference between life and death.

Priority #1

Remember

In survival situations, people die not from the environment, but from their inability to manage their psychological response to it. Master your mind first.

The S.T.O.P.A. Method

Your first response protocol

1

STOP — Immediately cease all movement. Sit down if possible.

2

THINK — Assess your situation calmly. What resources do you have?

3

OBSERVE — Look around. What are the dangers? What are the opportunities?

4

PLAN — Create a simple action plan with prioritized steps.

5

ACT — Execute your plan methodically. One step at a time.

Recognizing Panic

0 of 6 completed

Fear is a natural survival mechanism. It triggers the fight-flight-freeze response, flooding your body with adrenaline and cortisol. However, uncontrolled fear becomes panic.

The Panic Cycle:

Fear → Physical symptoms → More fear → Decision paralysis → Poor choices → Danger increases → More fear

Breaking the cycle: The moment you recognize panic, immediately use box breathing. Physical control leads to mental control.
